05/25/2008 Entry: "weird"
Today was a crazy day. Well not really I suppose, I dontknow..
Anyhoo, I'm still in training for a yet-to-be-opened store. Yesturday I had to continue my training at a different location, this one being an extra 15 minutes or more driving distance. This store is also not nearly as strict as the last one I was in training..Frankly it's unclean & many there don't do much work during their shift. Hence I seem to be left on a register by myself, dealing with a full line of people & have a hard time finding anyone around to help me when a problem comes up..Like about a half hour before my shift was over, a pen would not work for a customer to sign their credit card slip. I could NOT FIND another single pen around the other registers..And there seemed to be no other employees in sight to help.
I..I just can't win, ya know?
But here's some fun bit of info. Shortly before this, a customer recondised me, he was a employee at Blockbuster at the time I had quit (I couldn't remember the dude's name or anything, but if he can remember ME, good enough) & told me how everyone there had either quit or been fired after I had left. Also someone had stolen money from the safe, it was left open & 'Chuck' (manager at another Blockbuster, partly responsable for my store while there was no manager) had to pay from his own pocket to have this amount restored.
And I'll tell you another thing..Yesturday I was woken up by my cell phone shortly before 7am. It was this security line..This..Well, let me explain it this way:
While employed at Blockbuster, if you're a manager or in some postion in charge at a store, they'll take your contact information incase there is a security breach (like someone an alarm going off, ect.) that they need to get in touch with you. So, that's what this call was for.
Mind you, I haven't been with Blockbuster in about 6 FREAKIN' months! And they still had me down as the contact. And to make things worse, when I answered the phone & replied (half asleep) that I was no longer working at Blockbuster, the man asked about the other contact, which was (alcourse) a guy, who was very briefly considered a 'shift leader' (3rd in charge IF we had a manager) whom had quit long before I did.
You know, I miss working in a video store. I honestly do. But I forget about all this bullshit with time & things like this, I'm glad they're so fucked. I really do.
Something else weird. After so much freakin' hard work, I reward myself by purchasing a milkshake while driving home. The guy working the drive-thru, notices my 'Sheets' (name of the store, btw) shirt logo & starts asking me which store I'm working at & how he used to work at one of these stores down in Gettysburg (before being fired) & how he's the manager of this Arby's. So I briefly chat about the stores to him at the drive-thru window. It's after 11pm & no other cars so no hurry.
Just sorta a weird day.
Okay, it's past 1am. I need sleep. Forget the spelling errors if you actually read this, goodnight.
