02/16/2008 Entry: "Half assed movie reviews."

Bringing you up to date on my life:

Thursday
- babysat from 5:30pm - 10pm - Made $40
- received scratch off lottery tickets from parents, won $45

Friday
- got taxes done. Will receive $517 within 2 weeks. (SCORE!)

Money is good..money is very good.
The other details of the past 2 days are boring &/or too hard for me to recall or describe. Or something like that.

Allow me to give some
Half-assed Movie Reviews from my recent Netflix rentals.

Rob Zombie's Halloween (aka Not Another Horror Remake!)
Take the basic Halloween film, add in abunch of extra nudity, rape scenes, voilence & you get this. Oh & there's also a brief strip show scene because Rob Zombie MUST show his wife's body any chance he gets. And the Myers broad has been replaced with your standard dysfunctional drunkin' fightin' white trash family. And young Michael Myers is now a KISS fan whom looks like an extra from Dogtown and Z-Boys. Still, it COULD HAVE been worse, so I'll give this a D+ for effort.

The Heartbreak Kid
Ben Stiller doesn't want to get married. But then he does. Then the girl turns out to be a total bitch & nutjob. Then he meets the standard 'perfect girl'. And then he's trying to get with her. That's how far I got - maybe a hour in. You can really figure how what's going to happen & since I don't HAVE to give movie reviews to customers anymore, I didn't finish. It just wasn't funny. D+ seems fair enough.

Eyes Without a Face 1960 French horror film. Rather slow, but good visuals & music. Basically the plot involves a disfigured girl who is forced to wear a mask & her father killing girls in an attempt to transplants their face onto his daughter's. There were even a few scenes that freaked me out alittle. Overall I enjoyed it. B

Screen capture & animated gif from it:

Alice, Sweet Alice 1976 horror film - with a brief role (she's the first to get killed) by Brooke Shields. I remember there used to be a old VHS tape of this for rental at this other video store (not the one I worked at). I've passed over dozens of times & based on the brief description on the back, it always seemed like a less than average low budget slasher flick to me. But I was surpised, this was actually really good! And went alittle too long & some things about the revelation of the killer, I believe, didn't quite match up. But the acting was really good & there were alot of creepy & scarish scenes.
For a horror flick I'll give this a B+

Screen captures:

That actress above, who is playing a 12 year old. She appearently (well, according to the imdb anyways) was 19 at the time of filming! She really doesn't look it in the film at all.

My 2 week trial at Netflix is nearly over, so I may simple cancel & get a trial at the EVOL Blockbuster online..Just 'cause 2 free weeks are 2 FREE WEEKS.

I bid you good evening.
